Poetry

I'm not much for poetry, but I really like the following passage:

Free the latch-key kids,
Let them run through the side streets
And knock over garbage pail lids.

From this great, albeit sporadic, blog.

Venice Beach Characters Update

It's not unusual to see film and TV crews along the Venice Beach bike path and boardwalk, either filming commercials, or videos, or what appear to be part of an endless series of TV news/documentary segments about the Venice Beach scene. This evening there were a couple of TV crews filming people along the boardwalk, and as I rode my bike past the cameraman and producer of one of these crews I overheard one of them say to the other one: "We can't use him, he's a celebrity. He costs too much." I turned around to see who they were talking about, and it was none other than Jerome the Skateboarder (see previous post)!

By searching Flickr I was able to find the above photos of some of the more memorable characters I see pretty regularly along the Venice Beach boardwalk.

Lincoln Blvd. Neon - Daytime

I tried to take a picture of this sign at night, but it didn't come out very well. I should try again at dusk. It's a sweet sign.
